Can you give me a price over the phone?
Sometimes, but not always. If the work is clear and we have enough information, photos, or a short video, we may be able to give a general idea or starting range. If the problem needs to be inspected, tested, or traced before we know the right repair, Tommy will need to see it in person first.
When does the diagnostic fee apply?
A diagnostic fee may apply when the plumbing problem needs troubleshooting, testing, inspection, or tracing before we can tell what repair is needed. This can include hidden leaks, recurring clogs, water pressure issues, sewer smells, mystery noises, or problems where the cause is not obvious.
If it is clear planned work, it may qualify for a free estimate instead.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. We offer free estimates for many clear, planned plumbing projects where the work needed can be seen and priced without troubleshooting. If the issue needs diagnosis before we know what is wrong, a diagnostic visit may be needed instead.
Should I shut my water off?
If water is actively leaking, spraying, flooding, or causing damage, shut the water off if you can do so safely. You may have a shutoff under a sink, behind a toilet, at the water heater, near the fixture, or at the main shutoff for the home.
If you are not sure what to turn off, call or text us with a photo or short video and we’ll try to help you figure out the next step.
What counts as urgent?
A plumbing issue may be urgent if there is active leaking, flooding, no water, no hot water, sewage backup, a burst pipe, water around electrical areas, or anything causing damage to your home.
If you are unsure, call or text 470-531-3956 with a photo or short video. We can help you decide what the next step should be.
Do you work on water heaters?
Yes. Shanks Onsite Services works on residential water heaters, including leaking water heaters, replacement questions, expansion tanks, valves, water heater connections, and related plumbing concerns.
If your water heater is leaking, send us a photo of the unit, the leak area, and the label if possible.
Do you install customer-supplied fixtures?
Sometimes. We may install customer-supplied fixtures depending on the product, condition, compatibility, and the plumbing setup. Please keep in mind that we can only warranty our labor, not the fixture or product itself if it was supplied by the customer.
Send us a photo or link to the fixture before scheduling if possible.
What areas do you serve?
Shanks Onsite Services provides residential plumbing help throughout West Georgia and nearby areas, including Temple, Dallas, Villa Rica, Hiram, Bremen, Carrollton, Douglasville, Powder Springs, Rockmart, Lithia Springs, and surrounding communities.
Not sure if you’re in our service area? Call or text 470-531-3956 and we’ll let you know.
Know where your main water shutoff is.
If a pipe bursts or something starts spraying, knowing how to shut off the water can help limit damage until help arrives.
Do not ignore high water pressure.
High pressure can be hard on fixtures, supply lines, toilets, appliances, and your water heater. If your pressure seems too strong or keeps changing, it may be worth having it checked.
A running toilet can waste a lot of water.
If your toilet keeps running, refilling, or making noise after flushing, it may be more than an annoyance. Small toilet issues can add up on your water bill.
Send photos before scheduling when possible.
A clear photo or short video can help us better understand what you’re seeing and prepare for the visit.
Avoid chemical drain cleaners before a plumber comes out.
Chemical drain cleaners can be harsh on pipes and may make the work more dangerous if the drain still needs to be opened or service.
A small leak can cause damage if left alone.
Even a slow drip can lead to water damage, staining, mold concerns, or higher water bills over time. It’s better to have it checked before it becomes a bigger problem.
